Safety

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Blazer EV. But it costs extra on the Polestar 3.

Both the Blazer EV and the Polestar 3 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning, available front parking sensors and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

Chevrolet’s powertrain warranty covers the Blazer EV 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Polestar covers the 3. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Polestar 3 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 93 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Polestar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Blazer EV’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Polestar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 156 more problems per 100 vehicles, Polestar is ranked 35th, below the industry average.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Blazer EV can travel longer on a full charge than the Polestar 3 Performance Package (283 miles vs. 279 miles).

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Blazer EV RS’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Polestar 3 (275/45R21 vs. 265/45R21).

The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Polestar 3 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Blazer EV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Polestar 3 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Blazer EV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Polestar 3 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer EV’s wheelbase is 4.3 inches longer than on the Polestar 3 (121.8 inches vs. 117.5 inches).

Chassis

The Chevrolet Blazer EV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 500 to 550 pounds less than the Polestar 3.

Cargo Capacity

The Blazer EV has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Polestar 3 with its rear seat up (25.5 vs. 17.1 cubic feet). The Blazer EV has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Polestar 3 with its rear seat folded (59.1 vs. 50 cubic feet).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Blazer EV easier. The Blazer EV’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 29.7 inches, while the Polestar 3’s liftover is 31 inches.

Towing

The Blazer EV’s minimum standard towing capacity is much higher than the Polestar 3’s (1500 vs. 0 pounds).

Ergonomics

The Blazer EV’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Polestar 3’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

Recommendations

Motor Trend selected the Blazer EV as their 2024 Sport Utility of the Year. The Polestar 3 has never been chosen.
