Power ranks Chevrolet second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 41 more problems per 100 vehicles, GMC is ranked 20th, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 32 more problems per 100 vehicles, GMC is ranked 18th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 4 places higher in reliability than GMC.

Tires and Wheels

The Silverado EV has a standard full size spare (not available on RST) so a flat doesn’t interrupt your work or a trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Sierra EV; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Silverado EV RST w/rear wheel steering’s turning circle is .2 feet tighter than the Sierra EV Denali’s (42 feet vs. 42.2 feet).

Passenger Space

The Silverado EV has .9 inches more front shoulder room, 1 inch more rear headroom, .1 inches more rear hip room and .5 inches more rear shoulder room than the Sierra EV.

Payload and Towing

Maximum trailer towing in the GMC Sierra EV is limited to 10500 pounds. The Silverado EV offers up to a 12500 lbs. towing capacity.

The Silverado EV has a much higher optional payload capacity than the Sierra EV (1750 vs. 1500 lbs.).

Recommendations
